Steve Eldridge
Steve is the Head of Infrastructure and Service Delivery. He has worked at the firm since 2023.
I joined Slaughter and May following a career in technology and service delivery within the global financial services sector. I applied to Slaughter and May because of its reputation for excellence and its collaborative, collegiate culture. The opportunity to lead infrastructure and service delivery for a leading law firm, where technology underpins complex, high-profile work, was an attractive challenge.
MY DAY-TO-DAY
As Head of Infrastructure and Service Delivery, I am responsible for the firm’s technology backbone, ensuring secure, high-performing platforms across our London headquarters and international offices. My remit covers the IT Service Desk, Technology Support, Infrastructure Operations, Engineering, Audio Visual and Service Management. We operate a 24/7/365 service desk, and prioritise fixing issues on the first call and resolving problems quickly, reflecting the critical nature of our support to everyone at the firm.
Our team works closely with other technology functions such as Information Security, PMO (Project Management Office), and Business Systems to deliver reliable and efficient services. The culture here is genuinely supportive and inclusive—there is a strong sense of pride and professionalism, and everyone’s contribution is valued. What I enjoy most is the variety and impact of the work: enabling colleagues to deliver exceptional client service through robust technology. Challenges include balancing innovation with security and managing global complexity, but these are also what make the role rewarding. I’ve stayed because of the firm’s commitment to excellence and its people-first approach.
If you’re considering a career at Slaughter and May, be prepared to embrace excellence and collaboration. It’s a place where you’ll be challenged, supported, and given the opportunity to make a real difference—not just in your role, but across the firm.
COLLABORATION EMBEDDED IN HOW WE WORK
Technology is a team effort, and at Slaughter and May, collaboration is embedded in how we work. Whether it’s working across technology to deliver transformation or coordinating with multiple internal teams to maintain resilience, success comes from shared effort and mutual respect.
OVERSEEING MAJOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES
A particularly proud period was overseeing major technology upgrades that strengthened the firm’s global infrastructure. These included the Windows 11 rollout, the migration to Exchange Online, and the Hong Kong infrastructure refresh. Each initiative was complex, involving tight timelines, regulatory considerations, and coordination across multiple teams and regions.
While these successes were delivered by highly professional and dedicated teams, I’m proud to have played a role in helping guide strategy and ensuring alignment with the firm’s long-term technology roadmap. These projects collectively enhanced security, improved user experience, and positioned the firm for future innovation.
