Slaughter and May boosts Disputes and Investigations team with major partner hire
Slaughter and May today announces a new partner appointment in London. Gayathri Kamalanathan, currently Head of Group Litigation and Enforcement at Danske Bank in Copenhagen, has been elected as a partner in the firm’s rapidly growing Disputes and Investigations Group. It is expected that she will join in April 2021.
In her role at Danske Bank, Gayathri has played a lead role in managing the bank’s response to ongoing investigations by regulators and criminal prosecutors in multiple jurisdictions including in relation to its former Estonian branch. Prior to that, Gayathri was UK Head of Litigation and Regulatory Enforcement for Deutsche Bank, managing a broad range of litigation matters and cross border regulatory investigations, including in relation to LIBOR.
Richard Swallow, Head of Slaughter and May’s Disputes and Investigations Group, said: “Gayathri is an absolutely fantastic hire for us at a time when we are growing our team and securing some significant victories for clients. Her decade of leading edge experience in senior in-house roles has given her deep knowledge of complex litigation and global regulatory and criminal enforcement action. All the partners are immensely excited to add Gayathri to our team.”
Steve Cooke, Senior Partner of Slaughter and May, said: “Gayathri’s appointment marks another significant point in the continued growth of the contentious side of our practice. The global impact of Covid-19 is widely predicted to include a sharp increase in litigation and investigations and the addition of Gayathri to our market leading team gives us a great platform to support clients turning to us when their commercial and reputational interests are at stake.”
