Alexander advises clients on a broad range of EU and UK competition law and regulatory matters, in particular merger control, foreign investment, antitrust and other behavioural matters, sectoral and digital regulation, subsidy control and competition litigation.

Experience includes advising:

  • Vodafone on several transactions in Europe, including:
     
    • its joint venture with Three UK 
    • its acquisition of Liberty Global’s operations in Germany and eastern Europe, and related appeals
    • its fibre joint venture with Altice in Germany
    • the disposals of its Spanish and Hungarian businesses
  • Japan Industrial Partners on its acquisition of Toshiba
  • Booking on its proposed acquisition of Etraveli Group
  • S&P Global on its acquisition of IHS Markit
  • Marsh & McLennan Companies on its acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson 
  • Edrington on the sale of The Famous Grouse to William Grant & Sons
  • INEOS on the sale of its Composites business to KPS Capital Partners; and its acquisition of TotalEnergies’ 50% interest in three joint venture chemical production businesses
  • ITV on the CMA’s investigation in relation to the purchase of freelance services in the production and broadcasting of sports content in the UK
  • Banco Santander Totta on a reference to the Court of Justice of the EU by the Portuguese competition tribunal
  • Netflix on various competition law matters
  • Several clients on digital regulation matters such as the EU Digital Services Act, EU Digital Markets Act and the UK Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Act

Alexander has been resident in our Brussels office since 2013. He is a member of the Brussels Bar (A list) and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales. Alexander is recognised as a ‘Future Leader’ by Lexology Index.
