Hywel is head of one of the firm’s corporate groups and co-head of the Infrastructure, Energy & Natural Resources practice. He has advised on a wide range of corporate and commercial transactions, with particular experience in public and private M&A, joint ventures and equity financings.  

Highlights include advising:

  • Australian Retirement Trust on its investment in the National Gas Transmission business
  • Centrica on the sale of interests in various wind farms and related joint venture arrangements, the sale of its North American energy business, Direct Energy, and on its oil and gas joint venture with Stadtwerke München/Bayerngas
  • INEOS on the sale of INEOS Composites, the acquisition of BP’s global petrochemicals businesses, the acquisition of oil and gas businesses from DONG and Hess, the acquisition of the Forties Pipeline System from BP and on the Greensands carbon capture and storage project
  • Legal & General on various matters including the sale of CALA Group and the sale of its Mature Savings business
  • Premier Oil on various matters including its financial restructuring and merger with Chrysaor to create Harbour Energy
  • Shell on the takeover of BG Group and the simplification of its corporate structure
  • Valaris on an equity fundraising, the acquisition of Atwood Oceanics, merger of Ensco and Rowan, shareholder activism matters and its Chapter 11 restructuring
