Nick is a Senior Counsel in Slaughter and May’s Disputes and Investigations group. He has a broad arbitration and litigation practice. He advises FTSE 100 companies, multinational corporates and financial institutions on their most significant contentious matters. Nick is experienced in conducting complex and high-value disputes, often with a cross-jurisdictional dimension, and has particular expertise in managing mass claims. He has acted for clients in a number of commercial arbitrations conducted under various institutional rules including the ICC and LCIA.
Highlights include:
- Truck manufacturer MAN SE in its defence of one of the largest ever competition law follow-on damages proceedings in the UK courts and Competition Appeals Tribunal which cover multiple individual claims, group actions and competing applications for Collective Proceedings Orders.
- JPMorgan Chase Bank in relation to both High Court litigation and Competition Appeal Tribunal collective proceedings arising out of the forex investigations.
- Gemfields on mass tort claims relating to alleged human rights abuses.
- UK Asset Resolution Limited on a number of actual and threatened public and private law claims.
- Credit Suisse in relation to claims brought by an investor in various Notes linked to the Credit Suisse Nova (Lux) Supply Chain Finance High Income Fund, which allowed investors to obtain an exposure to trade receivables sourced by Greensill Capital Pty Ltd or its affiliates.
Nick is on the London committee of the Commercial Litigators’ Forum. He joined Slaughter and May in 2020 from another magic circle law firm.
