Oly is a member of our infrastructure, energy and natural resources practice. He has wide-ranging domestic and international experience advising clients on all aspects of the value chain including M&A, large-scale projects and corporate and commercial matters. Oly has a particular focus on the power and oil & gas sectors, as well as emerging technologies like carbon capture and storage and hydrogen. Oly is a member of the firm’s global steering committees for energy and infrastructure and commercial contracts, and is the co-chair of the Regulatory and Policy Working Group of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association.

- Drax in connection with its Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage Project at Drax Power Station, Yorkshire, to capture approximately 8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per annum, the largest BECCS project in the world
- Kellas Midstream on its up to 1GW blue hydrogen project known as H2NorthEast and on the disposal of a 50% interest in that project to SSE Thermal and associated joint venture arrangements
- INEOS E&P A/S on Project Greensand, the most mature project for storage of CO2 in Denmark with the possibility of storing up to 8 million tons of CO2 per year in 2030, representing 13% of Denmark’s emissions
- in relation its HyBont HAR1 green hydrogen project, one of the first green hydrogen projects in the UK
- Spirit Energy in connection with its Morecambe Net Zero CO2 transport and storage project
- Uniper on its proposed 1.1GW power CCS project at Connah’s Quay

- Aker Horizons on its acquisition of Mainstream Renewable Power
- Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund on its investment alongside the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development into R.Power S.A., a vertically integrate renewable energy developer and independent power producer based in Poland
- BlackRock Real Assets on a consortium investment in Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, one of the largest renewable energy companies in India
- BlackRock Diversified Infrastructure Funds Group on its investment of up to USD400 million in Positive Zero, a UAE-based decentralised decarbonisation infrastructure business
- Drax on its new contract-for-difference for transitional revenue support for Drax Power Station; on its acquisition of Scottish Power's portfolio of pumped storage, hydro and gas-fired generation assets and on the sale of those gas-fired generation assets to VPI
- Castleton Commodities on its acquisition of a majority stake in L48 Energy, a company that originates, owns, and operates large-scale energy storage systems
- ENGIE SA on its agreements with the Belgian Government for a project worth up to €2bn to extend the operational life of two nuclear power units by ten years
