Slaughter and May is advising Diageo plc on the sale of its 80.4% shareholding in Guinness Ghana Breweries plc, a company listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange, to Castel and its entry into new long-term licence and royalty agreements with Guinness Ghana.
The transaction expands Diageo’s existing long-term partnership with Castel in Africa and will see Diageo continue to drive the brand and marketing strategy for its iconic Guinness brand, in partnership with Castel, to promote continued growth and development in Ghana.
Slaughter and May is working closely with members of Diageo’s in-house legal and corporate development teams, including Anthony Smith (Global Counsel – Europe & Africa), Siena Colegrave (Legal Counsel – M&A), David Swinburne (Global Corporate Development and M&A Director) and Rohit Kapoor (Global M&A Director), as well as with Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah in Ghana.
