Slaughter and May has secured a victory for First MTR in a long-running class action before the Competition Appeal Tribunal

Slaughter and May has secured a victory for First MTR in a long-running class action before the Competition Appeal Tribunal. The Tribunal’s judgment confirmed that First MTR did not breach competition law in its approach to selling and marketing “boundary fare” train tickets. This is a highly significant judgment for all consumer-facing businesses which makes clear that competition law is not a general law of consumer protection.
