Slaughter and May advised The Black Stork Charity - financing of the construction of the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre
Slaughter and May advised The Black Stork Charity in connection with financing the construction of the Defence and National Rehabilitation Centre (the DNRC) at the Stanford Hall estate in Nottinghamshire. Construction commenced in August 2015 and the DNRC is expected to open in 2018.
The DNRC will have at its core a Defence establishment, but this core is also proposed to be the catalyst for a new National facility, which would provide specialised services in the clinical care, training and education and research and development fields. Once open, the Defence establishment will provide rehabilitation care to injured service personnel. The DNRC programme was established by the Duke of Westminster and is supported by the Duke and a number of other, primarily major, donors, with a campaign target to raise £300 million by the end of 2017.
