Slaughter and May is advising Tata Steel on the sale of its 42- and 84-inch pipe mills in Hartlepool to Liberty House Group
Slaughter and May is advising Tata Steel UK Limited (“Tata Steel”) on the sale of its 42- and 84-inch pipe mills, also known as the Submerged Arc Weld (SAW) mills, to Liberty House Group. A definitive sale agreement was signed on 10 July 2017.
The SAW mills are located in Hartlepool where 140 employees manufacture pipeline for gas and oil projects around the world. The two mills are fed with steel plate sourced from outside Tata Steel, so the mills are independent of the company’s strip products supply chain. The transaction is expected to complete within the next few months.
The Slaughter and May team on the deal is being led by corporate partner Gary Eaborn, who is working alongside the Tata Steel in-house legal team led by Alastair Page, Director, Legal UK.
