Pensions Essentials - January 2024
Pensions Essentials - January 2024
Welcome to the latest edition of Pensions Essentials. The biggest development since the last edition has been the publication of the Pensions Regulator’s general code. At 171 pages long, it has a lot to say and we thought it would be useful to cover it in a separate briefing which Pensions Essentials links to and which will be easier to find if you want to come back to it in the future. We also cover more detail on the tax changes coming as a result of the abolition of the lifetime allowance, new cyber security guidance from the Regulator, further amendments to the legislation for collective defined contribution schemes, the PPF’s final levy determination and the current state of play on Ombudsman determinations dealing with recouping overpayments. What isn’t here is anything on the new funding regime. We understand the final regulations will be laid in Parliament on Monday 29 January. If this happens we are running a webinar 8.30am on Friday 2 February. You should receive an invitation to this. Let me know if you don’t and you would like to attend. If you have any colleagues who would like to sign up for our communications, please click here. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I and colleagues enjoyed writing it. Dan |
